Summary
Under general supervision, assist shipping and receiving by unloading and loading trucks, preparing packages for shipment, and ensuring clean and safe warehouse working environment.
Essential Functions

Shipping/Receiving
• Accurately pull parts from inventory to fulfill Order Acknowledgements for customers, or for internal shipment requests initiated by the sales staff.
• Prepares orders for shipment by properly packaging items.
• Obtain quotes from various freight companies for the shipment of machinery and parts to the customer.
• Performs local pick/deliveries using the Company van.
• Able to work necessary overtime hours to complete the job as determined by the customer and BLM.
• Assists in the unloading of trucks to receive incoming machinery, parts, or equipment.
• Assists with the incoming machinery, parts or equipment to ensure all are accurately placed into the computerized inventory system.
• Tracks the receipt of backordered items and promptly processes delivery to the customer.
• Notifies internal employees of the arrival of their shipments.
• Assists with bin/shelf/rack/drawer inventory by tracking where the inventory items reside within the warehouse.
• Assists with the quarterly physical inventory process.
• Other duties as assigned by management.
Operations
• Maintains the orderliness of the Shipping and Receiving area by ensuring the proper storage of any items delivered to the warehouse.
• Maintains the cleanliness of the Shipping and Receiving area as well as the employee break room by removing the trash, sweeping the floor, and maintaining a dust-free environment.
• Maintains the cleanliness of the dock area.
• Request supplies, including boxes, packing materials, and general warehouse items as required.
• Maintains the security of the Shipping and Receiving area by ensuring the building is locked and the alarm is set when leaving the premises.
• Other duties as assigned by management.
Education and Experience
• High School Diploma required and a minimum of one (1) year of experience in shipping and receiving, or a warehouse position.
Licensing/Certifications
• A clear driving record containing no more than two (2) minor moving violations in three (3) years and no major violations in the last seven (7) years.
• A valid forklift license is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Familiar with and able to interpret packing slips.
• Able to estimate weight and use that information to calculate the cost of shipping.
• Familiar with proper packaging methods.
• Familiar with common material handling equipment including a pallet jack and forklift.
• Able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Able to follow both verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to use simple math.
• Required to read and write English.
• Familiar with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Able to accurately enter data into a computerized system.
• Able to effectively use the Internet.
• An organizational aptitude.
• Able to work effectively with minimal supervision.
• Effective time management skills.
• Able to effectively work with all levels of team members and all types of customer personalities.
